God's Goodness

As we drove across the African plains, I experienced the vastness of this earth and the intricate details of this life.  For miles all you could see were fields scattered with animals.  Animals that grazed and grass that swayed with no worries of this world. God's goodness goes from the vastness of millions of miles to the depths of our hearts. As I looked at the plains and the animals, I was reminded of how God created the beauty of the fields of the Masai Mara and the landscape of the grasslands and mountains. I was also reminded of how God created each animal with specific characteristics for survival. Whether predator or prey, God gave each animal specific characteristics unique to each species.

God also gives us those same special characteristics. Except each one of us are created uniquely different from one another! Because He created us, He knows the deepest parts of hearts and the most intricate details of our lives - past, present and future!

He is so good!

God's design was that the gazelles would be fast but the cheetahs would be faster.  So He designed the gazelles with the ability to change directions faster to escaped the cheetah!

Just like He has designed us, humans, some fast some slow, some tall some short, some hot tempered some easy going, but we all have been designed uniquely in His image. We have all been given talents to be used for God, but we also have been designed with weaknesses for us to rely on God!

God's goodness to us over the past few months has been incredible. He has blessed us tremendously and taught us emensely! This past week we have moved to a new location in Kenya and gotten to spend some time with my mom and other friends from Tennessee! Our friends have shown us a new part of Kenya, and we have been able to meet so many new Kenyans who love the Lord.  They have been so generous and kind to us. We have been working at a school painting their building.  It has helped encourage the students, teachers, and community.  We are hoping to do some bible studies with the older students in the community. We have been blessed to attend two different churches where their love and generousity, because of what Christ has done in their lives, abounds and overflows.

We are working through an organization called Enkai's Children. This organization does so much for women and children all over south and west Kenya. From evangelism and discipleship to education and funding, they help to enrich small communities and their local churches and schools through means of the gospel and the love of Christ. It has a been a great week serving with my mom.  We have had a great time with her and are so thankful she could come and be a part of our journey.

God's goodness has poured out on us this year. Sure, we have had hard times, but sometimes we just have to step back and focus on the good things He has done. From friends and family to nature and animals to His never-ending gift of salvation, God has given us so much to be thankful for!

God has been so good to us by giving us life, so be thankful and give Him the glory He deserves.

Praise the Lord for He is good and His mercy endures forever.

Great Are the Lord's Works Praise the Lord! I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart, in the company of the upright, in the congregation. Great are the works of the Lord, studied by all who delight in them. Full of splendor and majesty is his work, and his righteousness endures forever. He has caused his wondrous works to be remembered; the Lord is gracious and merciful. He provides food for those who fear him; he remembers his covenant forever. He has shown his people the power of his works, in giving them the inheritance of the nations. The works of his hands are faithful and just; all his precepts are trustworthy; they are established forever and ever, to be performed with faithfulness and uprightness. He sent redemption to his people; he has commanded his covenant forever. Holy and awesome is his name! The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!
